History of Voip
“Slowly but surely, VoIP has established itself all around the world and in many of our lives, broadening our communication capabilities and opening doors for both business and personal relationships .”
Many of us today use voice over internet protocol technology without really knowing much about its origin, or the history of its emergence. Slowly but surely, VoIP has established itself all around the world and in many of our lives, broadening our communication capabilities and opening doors for both business and personal relationships.
VoIP delivers voice communications and multimedia across IP networks. It allows for speech and video to be transmitted across IP networks, enabling users to see and hear one other. The three most popular VoIP tools used today are VoIP Telephones, VoIP Software, and Mobile VoIP. IP Phones can drastically cut communication costs, and are most often implemented within established company buildings and institutions. Software VoIP encompasses web calling, web conferencing, and voice and video IM. VoIP has also advanced quickly enough to be available on smartphones and other internet devices. It seems as though all three of these VoIP tools are being put to great use by corporations and individuals all over the globe.
Due to its inexpensive cost some businesses prefer VoIP services, since those that utilize broadband Internet service allow users to place and receive calls, just as they would with the telephone service provided by the PSTN. This development though, is relatively recent and began in 2004. Since then however, users have been provided with the ability to make international calls and attain two way caller ID. VoIP providers have also been competing in order to offer solutions to all communications such as phone calls, voice messages, e-mails, and faxes. This is to be expected since most of us today would rather not deal with multiple service providers and businesses are seeking to improve efficiency in the best ways possible. Devices are also becoming much more user-friendly which is a general relief for both producers and consumers.
Although it has been greatly impacting the internal and external communications of businesses, VoIP benefits all types of consumers. Thanks to services provided by applications such as Skype and ooVoo, family members who are miles apart can digitally converse “face to face”. Keeping in touch with friends and family has never been easier and these applications that implement VoIP are seemingly becoming all purpose. Clearly, Voice over Internet Protocol technology has much more in store for the world’s technological future and will no doubt impact the way businesses and individuals communicate for years to come.
