There are never been a better time to be – or to become – a VoIP reseller. A recent report by Zion Research estimated the global VoIP services market to be worth over $83 billion in 2015. This will grow to more than $140 billion in 2021 with the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between now and then, around 9.1%.
OK, that’s the worldwide market they are talking about, but there is no questioning the scale of the opportunity. And here in the UK, we can tell you, it’s growing at an even faster rate. The fact is, we can hardly cope with the expansion we are seeing right now. Levels of interest in VoIP have rocketed over the past year and it’s getting even stronger.
What’s driving demand? Quite simply, it is easier and its cheaper. Everyone now has faster broadband (and those who can’t get it should be given access to it in the not-too-distant future), so that makes it easy to run VoIP. Even smaller businesses have the bandwidth they need. Everyone also now understands that paying standard rates for landline calls is just throwing money away. Any organisation that makes even just a handful of calls a day, will save a lot of money by switching from PSTN to VoIP.
On top of this (as the Zion report actually notes), businesses and people are now much more aware of wireless technologies. They use mobile devices all the time and expect to be able to connect to and services. An individual’s VoIP number can travel with them, so they can stay in touch wherever they are, and never miss a call. All they need is an Internet connection. There is also the rising popularity of the cloud, which is both arousing curiosity about and giving businesses more confidence in hosted services.
All of this means that VoIP is getting easier to sell and as the momentum builds, so does the opportunity. This is why there’s never been a better time to be or to become a VoIP reseller. If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch with our team.
